When Ghost volunteered for a solo night patrol, half the other captains thought she was crazy. To be alone, at night, when the Lan-Hraeth seemed to lurk around every corner? Still, Ghost only shook off their worries. “It’ll be quieter if I’m alone, they’ll have to hear me to find me.” When they protested further, she merely added. “It’s a crescent moon tonight so it will be almost entirely dark, I’ll blend right in! Besides, I can take care of myself.” Eventually it was agreed that Ghost would be allowed to take a solo guard post. Even so, some still asked if she had a death wish.

Ghost | Doe | Captain Outrunning the farmer's dog had been the easy part. The stupid furry beast could only bay in frustration as Ghost slipped into the undergrowth, her prize clenched tight between her teeth. The carrot's sugary juices tempted her, but she resisted. This would go to feed the warren, and help others recover from the brutality of winter. Mud squelched between her toes as she sprinted, only slowing to a pause when she was sure that the dog was long left behind.
